welcome

to my website. I am an Assistant Professor of English at Millikin University where I teach numerous publishing and production-based courses as well as first year component courses and new media courses. Additionally, I direct all professional writing internships.

I earned my Ph.D in English Studies from Illinois State University in 2008. My research interests focus on both rhetorical and pedagogical intersections of place, narrative, technology, and identity. My current research examines the trend of hyperlocal content, content that emerges from a focus on geographic locations, as a form of place narrative as well as way to build community as many of this content is user-generated on newspapers' online sites, and social media sites such as outside.in and review sites.

I am also Technical Editor of the international cultural studies journal Reconstruction as well as Technical Advisor to the online version of Millikin's newspaper, the Decaturian.
